Still missing: Seven feared dead in AJK road accident

Members of a social worker’s family and their driver are feared dead in a road accident in Azad Kashmir.

MUZAFFARABAD: Six members of a social worker’s family and their driver were feared dead in a road accident  in Azad Kashmir on Tuesday, police sources told The Express Tribune. The accident occurred when a jeep fell into River Neelum in Nowseri, 35 kilometres from here. The driver apparently lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn, police said. Red Crescent Neelum Education Programme Area Manager Qazi Mubashir Ahmad, his wife, their three children and the driver are missing while the fourth child who was fished out by rescue teams died on the way to Sheikh Zayad al-Nahyan Hospital in Muzaffarabad. Rescue teams are facing problems in searching for the missing family members due to the tricky terrain. A special team of divers has also been called to search and retrieve  the bodies but so far they have not met with any success.
