Hate speech: Malik Ishaq’s bail plea put off
The court was told that the petitioner had engaged a new counsel who needed time to prepare his arguments.

The Lahore High Court on Monday adjourned till October 23 the hearing of a bail petition filed by Malik Ishaq, a leader of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamat, formerly known as Lashkar-i-Jhangvi. The court was told that the petitioner had engaged a new counsel who needed time to prepare his arguments. Ishaq said in his bail plea that two cases registered against him by Bhakkar police for allegedly delivering provocative speeches were politically-motivated. He said that there was no evidence against him.According to the FIR, Ishaq made speeches at ASWJ gatherings on August 8, 2012, and February 2, 2013, that incited hatred against Shias and caused unrest in the area.
