Lotus Team Principal Eric Boullier stated that the team’s vacant seat ‘is pretty hot property at the moment’ as they look for Kimi Raikkonen’s replacement for next season, according to ESPNF1.

Earlier, Raikkonen had announced his move to Ferrari in 2014, and with at least one empty seat in the team, Romain Grosjean’s impressive form is expected to see him retained for next year. However, Boullier believes that they have the most competitive seat on the grid, and are taking time picking next year’s line-up.

“There are no announcements yet but there is plenty going on behind the scenes,” said Boullier.

“We know that Kimi is headed elsewhere, but we also know that Romain would bring good continuity as well as the strong performance potential we’ve seen recently.

“There are a number of other good drivers on the market at the moment, so we’re in a strong position of being able to assess the possibilities. A race seat with Lotus is pretty hot property at the moment, so we’re confident we’ll have a strong line-up in 2014.”
