The injured were taken to Dera Murad Jamali for treatment.
The toll is likely to rise according to the minister for Pakistan Railways as two coaches of the train were derailed as a result of the blast and rescue work is still underway.
Home secretary Asad Gilani said, "The target (of the blast) was the passenger train," Jaffar Express, headed from Rawalpindi to Quetta.
The device was planted on the railway track, AFP reported.
The blast occurred near the Notal area of Balochistan.
Two trains have been sent from Sukkur and Sibi to the scene of the blast for relief work and to fix the tracks.

@The Only Normal Person Here: You haven't noticed it yet God is helping. He has a plan for Pakistan.
@Asad Khan Have you taken the pills today?
@IndianDude:
This, what you called a "fictional" army is more than enough to keep yours "white gloves" real army sleepless, and further, the fictional one is also appears to be the largest contributor of UN Peace Keeping Missions.
The "clueless" cadre here is the sizable portion of the public but real culprits is the political class (almost entire) which loved to seen on the side of the LEFT, these days.
Talibans knows who is the weakest LINK here, these are scumbags but not STUPID, in every pitched battle, they left their salwars behind only to take respite in East Afghanistan where "Real Conquerors / Under Taker / Smasher" armies of 28 Nations are now calling time out in 31-12-14.
regards,
Lets bomb North Wazirstan and Taliban hideouts.
BLA and taliban both going to take down pakistan.
Herogiri ends at CinePlex. Welcome to Real Pakistan.
@asma: Balochs are fighting for reasonable demands, against discrimination, whereas Taliban is really an outside army trying to control whole of Pakistan. In Balochistan there is uprising,in FATA it is war.Attacks on civilians and property by TTP is hundred times more than by Balochs. That said,it is still wrong to target innocent citizens by both Taliban and Balochs.
@Asad Khan...may be pakistan should call back the fictional army major from the movie 'waar' to fight the terrorists! Judging by capability of the talibans to inflict damage to pakistan, may be it is time pakistan relied on a 'fictional' army major to fight 'real' waar as your 'real' army is clueless.
Until and unless the Balochistan problem is solved there cannot be peace in South Asia. The genuine aspirations of freedom loving Baluchis cannot be suppressed for ever.
RIP to the victims and their families. What is surprising is that BLA activity has picked up recently. There can be 2 explanations: 1. BLA feels that Army is conducting operation under the facade of relief work for Awaran earth quake (which is also a location of one of the most prominent BLA leaders). 2. As HRCP had recently warned, operational linkages are building up between BLA and TTP, which is a very dangerous development.
Kid...we eat halal, but we live next to the creatures like you, that is the irony.
......I do know the fact that govt killed their own innocent citizens just for wicked political gains & making tough laws on terrorism. i.e

That would be the most amazing plot of any thriller. Enjoy the movie.

A demonstration of Indian terrorism in Pakistan.
how are baloch militants not terrorists but taliban are? they both kill innocent people. They both challenge the writ of the state and they both have an agenda that they force upon the govt .
@Z: "Where is government of Pakistan? +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Presntly in Washington DC:)
Two Australian soldiers died i nAfghanistan a couple of years ago, the Prime Minister cancelled her foreign trips and rushed back to support the country and the family of the deceased. Yet, Nawaz Sharif, sits in the US awaiting to meet his master, who isn'y going to grant him his long awaited load of bread. Sad times.
Terrible!
@Asad Khan: Ha ha ha, joke of the day! Have you ever seen even in movies that any agent capturing railway staff just to cause collision of trains? What do you people feed to your brains??? @ET I hope this time my comment will be published
This is the work of RAW agents working to discredit the Taliban.
@Asad Khan: by that time all Baluchistanis will vanish
.. and we will use even this incident to target the Talibans (a loud and clear chant from US supported low lifes)
@ anti elitist - Agree!
This heinous act is not done by TTP. They are no angels but we know the insurgency in balochistan is of different kind. Thats why we need Pakistan friendly government in Afghanistan so their soil could not be used by baloch separatists and their funders.
@Mehdi Raza...why are you guys so obsessed with IK and PTI..they have the same stance since 10 years..so why no put all 40 thousand people killed during 10 years of war also into the account of PTI...out of 67 years of Pakistan history..PTI has ruled only for 4 months in one province which is in true sense is the most dangerous place on earth to live and govern..and all this because of previous governments and polices and not because of PTI's 4 months government...what do you think..am I correct or I am also a taliban spokesman and sympathizer....now what ever happens in other provinces also that also will be because of PTI...do I have to bang my head in the wall to understand all this logic..
@Z: Where is government of Pakistan ? The GOP is presently too busy in chalking out plans to conduct talks, stopping drone attacks and opening offices for all militant organisations fighting the state and has absolutely no time for these routine incidents happening almost on daily basis.
The Taliban did not do this.
Please do not attribute everything to the Taliban.
