No end in sight: 43 new patients identified in Swat

District total for dengue reaches 8,546.

Around 43 more dengue positive patients were identified in Swat on Sunday, taking the district’s total to 8,546.


According to the District Health Office, 5,869 males and 2,677 female patients have been diagnosed with disease in Swat.

Saidu Teaching Hospital (STH) Spokesperson Dr Wasil Ahmad Khan said 34 new patients were admitted to the hospital on Sunday taking the total STH registered patients to 4,794.

“Presently, 121 patients are under treatment in the dengue unit, including 101 male and 20 females,” he said. The doctor added 20 patients were also discharged after which the number of the total cured patients reached 4,545.



Twenty patients suffering with complications are receiving treatment at the intensive care unit.

Meanwhile, 71 new dengue patients were identified in Bisham tehsil of Shangla on Sunday, taking the tehsil’s total to 492.

Tehsil Headquarter Hospital In charge Dr Mansoor Ahmad Khan said they conducted tests of around 143 patients for the virus of which 71 were found infected. He added the patients were immediately put under treatment in the hospital.

“By the addition of these 71 patients, the total number of dengue patients has reached 492. Most are from Botyal, Abasin Colony – a village in the tehsil,” said Khan. He added patients are also coming from Kohistan.

Shangla District Assistant Commissioner Fayaz Khan also visited the hospital in Bisham where he saw the patients and checked on arrangements for their treatment.
