The Islamabad Police claimed they busted a gang of car lifters in the federal capital on Sunday.The raid was conducted in the jurisdiction of the Koral Police Station.
A cab driver Mazhar Ashfaq reported to the Koral police that two men snatched his taxi at gunpoint near Ali Pur. Ashfaq said the men had hailed his cab from Khanna Pul to go to Ali Pur.
The police registered a case and a team led by Inspector Khalid Mahmood Awan and Sub-Inspector Badar Munir traced out one suspect. The snatched vehicle was recovered from the suspect, identified as Babar Shahzad, according to the police.
The Koral police also arrested three suspects, Naveed Khan, Azmat and Imran Murtaza, and recovered a taxi that was snatched from driver Naqeebur Rehman at gunpoint.
According to the police, the suspects had hired the cab from Pirwadhai. After Rehman had reported the car theft, the police cordoned the area and located the snatched vehicle with the help of special teams.
