KARACHI: At least two more people, infected with the dengue virus, have died in Karachi, The Express Tribune learnt on Sunday. The total number of deaths caused by the deadly virus reached 14 as the number of dengue patients has crossed 2,500. The Sindh Dengue Surveillance Cell, which used to share daily data of patients across the province, has stopped the practice since the start of October. A weekly update is being shared with media as the cell believes that the season is almost over. Despite all the measures taken in the city, all the deceased in the province belong to Karachi. With the recent deaths of a male and female in the last week, sources said that the data of patients was not being shared as it spread gloom among the citizens. Meanwhile, the government has recently launched a guppy fish drive in the city among with other measures, including fumigations in different areas, in a bid to combat the threat.
