Seventeen people were arrested on Saturday for roasting heads and trotters of sacrificial animals in the city.
District Officer Mian Muhammad Nawaz said on Saturday that teams of the Environment Department raided various parts of the city, including Madanpura, Gulfishan Colony, Jameel Park, Douglaspura, Rajay Wala, Gurunanakpura, Saeedabad, Millat Road, Model Town, Dhuddi Wala and Mehmoodabad. He said teams were accompanied by the police.
He said they arrested 17 people identified as Muhammad Afzal, Nawaz, Waqas, Rehmat Ali, Arshad, Riaz, Shahbaz, Fayyaz, Bilal, Ashfaq Maseih, Ilyas, Nadir Rizwan, Aqib, Naeem, Muhammad Ali, Younus and Allah Ditta.
He said the teams also demolished six kilns where trotters of sacrificial animals were being roasted.
