Waar opened Wednesday on 42 screens across Pakistan and set a new record of box-office collections pertaining to Eid openings. After a first day opening of Rs11.4 million (exact figures: Rs11,397,930.00), Bilal Lashari’s big budget flick earned a total of Rs42.6 million (42,606,655.00) till Friday night, breaking all previous records of Eid collections. Waar has also broken first day record set by King Khan’s Chennai Express that had earned around nine million rupees on Eidul Fitr. If this remains to be the trend then Waar is expected to earn a total of Rs60 million or more in its first week, which will also beat Chennai Express's all-time high first week collections by a few millions.
Waar's first week on the box office will be considered of nine days since the collections from this Wednesday (first day of Eid) to next Friday will be collectively calculated. If Waar continues doing great at the box office then it is expected to earn an overall total of Rs120 million. However, an important trend has come to the fore. While Main Hoon Shahid Afridi covered the total business of Chambaili just in its first week similarly, Waar will supersede MHSA’s total business in its first week of running. But, Waar’s business is expected to face a major decline Monday onwards due to the end of a long weekend. Nonetheless, if it maintains its first-weekend run in the following weekends as well, then it will be considered the second blockbuster of modern-day Pakistani cinema, after Bol.

Pakistani version of Box office success: A movie that beats a bollywood masala movie in Pakistan even if it loses money on the whole.

Come on people. It was an artless, tasteless blunder. There was no sense of direction whatsoever. The villains were all one-dimensional, and when they laughed after every evil act they perform, I could not help but laugh with them, or at them. It was all about style and there was no real substance. Meesha Shafi can't act, nor can Ali Azmat. Though I was satisfied with Ayesha Khan's performance, and the actor who plays her brother. Now I had high hopes for it, being a firm supporter for the revival of Pakistani cinema, but that can't change the fact that the movie sucked. It doesn't come even close to the tact with which Shoaib Mansoor made Khuda Ke Liye and Bol. I was hoping it would be about the sacrifices of security forces in the war against terror, but frankly it wasn't. Having a scene where a hundred policemen are gunned down had no bearing on the story at all. The script was full of meaningless, stylized dialogue. Who talks like that? And the direction sucked as well. Who can believe that Lashari graduated from San Francisco? The night-time attack upon the terrorist hideout was shot dreadfully. There was no telling where the opposing parties were and how they planned to fight each other. It was just Shan dropping terrorists like they were pigeons. If he was so effective, why didn't they just send him to Waziristan and be done with? I can't tell how disappointed I am. Please don't waste your money on this.

Waar made 1crore first day. Chennai express made 50crores first day. (converted to pakistani rupees)
The difference is 50times more money.

@Din...it was 9.7 crore and not 10 crore and that was a Gross collections not Net..means with government taxes..Net amount is the one which actually goes into the pocket of distributor and producer..Waar Gross collection is over 10 crore...

What a great stuff, it's ought to be. Shaan hasn't provided earlier stuff like that but it was a great approach. It will make a great and positive impact on Pakistani Film Industry.
I usually don't comment to such, but here I will add my comments, most of the Pakistani's use to watch English movies however they don't understand English, what if Pakistani's produce such movie in English Language, I will suggest all who didn't watch WAAR, they should go and watch it, if you are crazy about watching movies, I am sure you would LOVE it and feel proud that your country have such talent.
I have watched WAAR 2 times, such a lovely story, action, thrill, excellent picturisation and direction.
Keep it up BILAL LASHARI, we are waiting for more.
It is rumored the movie might have been funded by the army; even if it is I think it is good in a way. I think even government should invest in film industry for its revival. It is one way and only one way to improve Pakistan's image and get foreign investment through tourism in the long run. Film industry needs public funds.
@Din: Brother, it doesn't count the international collections. Secondly, the collections aren't the issue as the ISPR funded it for the projection of their version of the events. So, in my opinion, the movie has done its job. Cheers! :)

Chennai express life time collections in Pakistan were 6.61 crores and WAAR in just five days with today predictions will cross 7 Crore Net..second to BOL only whose lifetime collections were 12 crore..just wait till next weekend and Inshalalh it will cross bol and will move forward towards first 20 crore business movie of Pakistan..

everyone is telling from their own perspective. and mine is that you just imagine that the movie had earned 1.14 crore only on 42 screens which is quite marvellous. while indian movies earns 25 to 30 crore but only after when they are released on 3500 screens. if you are good in maths. you can calculate the percentage. it means if waar would release in india it will get more than 100 crores..... strange fact...
waar is excellent movie,it is nice to hear that our cinema can also compete with holywood,shaan is really good actor but also looking like hollywood actors and handsome,i am happy to see it because it is pakistani movie which fullfill all merits of critical anaylsis

WAAR team had estimated total collection in Pakistan up to PKR 55 million not 120 million even. I think by now its earning would have already touched their target. Why this movie has been made in English????? Its main target market is not Pakistan rather international viewers in 25 countries where it is soon going to be released. Any thing above 55 million in Pakistan will be bonus.

Waar cost $2 Million when dollar was 80 rupees (film was expected to release in early 2012). They used to say that it was 17 Crore. .
Waar is an awesome movie....hats-off to Mr. Lashari....Thumbs down to Pakistan Haters.....the moviw was never meant to make profit but to unit Pakistanis against Indian terrorists.
Cost of the movie in Pakistani Rupees is (2.5 x 106.10=) 265.25 Millions.If it is expected to earn only 120 millions PKRs then the producer will be at loss. It should earn minimum 300 millions PKRs for producer's sake. ET is showing cost of the film in US Dollars ( $2.5 Millions ) and showing the collections in Pakistani Rupees hiding the fact that One USD = Rs 106.10 ( Pakistani)
The modern Pakistani movies may have earned record revenue but will not GLUE to the screen like the movies of late Sultan Rahi and Mustafa Qureshi.

@Iqbal: Firstly its 42.6 million and secondly here the comparison is between the money earned,by bollywood movies and WAAR, in Pakistan. WAAR has beaten all Indian movies in this regard.No Indian movie has ever done so much business in Pakistan, and they said "Pakistanis watch their movies" lol

Waar has official budget of rupees 25 crore and unofficial rupees 37 crore..So if it collects maximum 12 crores then also it will be unable to recover it's cost..So that means it's a big flop on box office..Hence I am surprised that why every day ET is publishing data of such a flop movie.. In India, hit movie means which not only recover it's cost but also genrate profiit...
When we talk about Waar being a super hit, we talk about in Pakistani terms. It is a 100% Pakistani film and we have seen a big growth in recent years. . Pakistani films were considered successful if they earned 1 Crore or more in total because the budget of the film has ranged from 40 to 60 Lakhs. Now the trend has changed and the films cost and earn many crore. . We have our own financially viable industry! I am so glad. Now whatever we earn in the UK etc will be a bonus.
Anyone who has watched in Pakistan says that they have never seen such Pakistani movie. . Eagerly waiting in London.

Can someone enlighten us on how Rs11.4 million takings compare to the most successful Bollywood movie? The article says that the star is unbeatable (in Pakistan perhaps) but would be nice to compare with the competition.
