Gas leakage: Three of a family killed in explosion

The family was sleeping in a room where gas filled overnight due to a leakage.

Three of a family, including two minors, were killed in a gas explosion in Mohallah Qazian, Sheikh Muhammadi on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday.


The family was sleeping in a room where gas filled overnight due to a leakage. On Wednesday morning, when someone lit a match, a powerful explosion occurred and the roof collapsed. Zainullah’s wife, daughter Umera and niece Mahnoor were severely injured.


Neighbours rushed to the site and managed to get the three out from the debris. The family was taken to Lady Reading Hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.


Five injured

Meanwhile, five people were injured in a gas cylinder explosion in Shahi Bagh on Tuesday. Police said a gas cylinder belonging to a roadside vendor exploded, injuring Irfan, Asad, Suliman, Ayaz and Qamar Zaman.
