Wahab fires salvo against PML-N

Fauzia Wahab accuses PML-N leader Chaudhry Nisar of playing into the hands of non-democratic forces.

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) central information secretary Fauzia Wahab accused Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan of playing into the hands of non-democratic forces and secretly holding meetings with generals.

Addressing a press conference at the PPP’s media cell, Wahab said that Chaudhry Nisar is trying to make the appointment of the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) chairman controversial. The PPP has not yet decided about the PML-N charge sheet against former president Pervez Musharraf, she added.

For the first time in the history of the country members of the government have to appear in courts and arrange bails while members of the opposition are not only living their lives freely but are also organising gatherings and criticising the government openly, Wahab said. In addition, they are availing state facilities.

Wahab said the there have been no political prisoners or victimisation in the two-and-a-half years of the PPP’s government and its reconciliation policy.

She said that the NAB chairman is responsible for reopening more than 20 cases against the PML-N leaders that were deferred due to their absence from the country. She said these included cases of default of more than one billion rupees, corruption of Rs6.1 billion, Raiwind estate, Hudaibia Paper Mills case and countless cases of tax dodging.

Accusing the media of exaggerating issues, she said that the media are making a fuss about October 13 but many more Octobers will come and that the PPP government does not care about such things.

She also announced a complete boycott of the Jang media group, saying that no PPP minister or office bearer will participate in any of the Jang group’s programmes and nor will any party communiqués will be issued to them. She said that this decision was made by the PPP’s central committee.

Devastation caused by floods and forever rising cost of surviving -and not cost of living as economists term it- does not bother any party. Peoples welfare is out of their operative agenda. If this is democracy then surely, as said the Chairman of PPP that "Democracy is the best revenge (may i add) from the people of Pakistan. Available political leadership choices on the horizon is not a source of satisfaction at all.

No matter what PPPP people say, it is not the president's job to run the country, and it is not a small matter of organization... Where as no one is asking about cases against the Shariffov's Brothers & all decisions are being given in favor of the Sharif brothers & their relatives & Punjab Govt.? Case in point Sohail Zia Butt? Why are only the opponents of PML (N) being crucified on various talk shows? Why newscasters giving their opinions & personal views on past events (such as October 99 coup) when their job is to read out news events not give out statements in favor or against past events? Why a particular party reps given more air time & when some does misdeeds are reported, not much attention & airtime is given on it? I am not taking sides of corrupt people, but is it fair to hold 1 or 2 parties accountable while a third (PML N) is being conveniently not being asked about past or current mis governance? Let their be accountability across the board!

Sultan Ahmed. | 14 years ago | Reply New doubt, she has opened some new chapters before the people by saying that choudhery Nisar is playing in hands of non democratic forces, according to him he has number of meetings with generals(former or on duty is not clear) According to her,appointment of NRO chairman is being controversial deliberately on the indication of the forces have some account with PPP ragim. She described some facilities available for but not for Peoples Party workers, notwithstanding the fact that every one living in this country has equal right under the law and constitution.I It is an admitted fact that there is no person in jail under the order of the federal government it mean PPP government is tolerating political opposition and exposing no zero tolerance behave. There is no solid ground to criticize but being done because there 20 cases of criminal nature against Muslim League N leaders who have fled from the country. Deedar shah is a undisputed personality and going to handle the cases of defaulters of millions including Raiwind estate Hudabia paper mill, and countless other relating to tax. Fauzia Wahab's accusation require defense, now it is the duty of Non league to appear on the press and answer all the questions that is essential in view of the part's image.
