According to a Rangers officer, ammunition and drugs were recovered from the suspects' hideouts.

The Rangers-led cleanup operation started in Karachi after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited the metropolitan early September and devised a strategy to curb violence.
With the provincial government on board, the prime minister gave a go-ahead to Rangers to conduct raids and arrest criminals.
The targeted operation began on September 7 and since then hundreds of suspects have been arrested. The Rangers are leading the operation which, they claim, is being conducted across the city – not just in the political strongholds of one party.

@A-No.1: Yes, the Government is playing to the gallery. They give impression that they are doing something. We never see the faces of those arrested. They are never brought before the courts. They are never punished so that it can act as a deterrent to other criminals. Why is this happening? Can anyone explain?
what about Al-Asif square ....still no operation....to arrest terrorist and criminals...majority of cars snatched on gun point are taken there...
An aggressive approach is needed due to the deteriorating security situation in the city. Pakistan has been a key ally in the region for over a decade. It is extremely important to have a safe and secure Pakistan for the sake of restoring peace in the region. At the same time, it is hard to imagine a safe and secure Pakistan without a safe and secure Karachi. We have full confidence in the government’s ability to bring the situation under control. Every day dozens of arrests are announced. Total arrests must be in thousands since crackdown started. Can some kind soul please tell us what are they doing to bring to justice the arrested/guilty etc. Or is this one big tamasha where rival stake holders are pulling strings to capture each others turf?
Clean the mess with full force and make Karachi a peaceful city
