@Raj - USA:
They must have learnt from their US friends. They did that in Vietnam when that area was the top producer of Heroin. Then Afghanistan took that crown form them. Lately US troops have been doing same in Afghanistan. There are reports of heroin even in body bags of dead soldiers. Under US occupation Afghanistan has the honour of being largest producer of Heroin once again (Was down to almost zero under the nasty Taliban).
Looking at the photo it appears that the quality standards have gone down in Pakistan. All the photos I have seen of "heroin" drug, it is a white powder. In this photo it is brownish.
BTW, just google and you can see in the late 80's / early 90's top officials from Pakistan's armed forces were caught in USA trying to smuggle drug in fighter jets of Pakistan's air force. I believe they brought the aircraft for repairs/service and carried a big consignment of drugs (possibly 100 Kg.) in the fighter jets. Some officers from Pakistan's embassy in Washington were also involved. US officers could not enter the fighter jet parked in Washington due to diplomatic restrictions. The army/air force officers who came in the fighter jets and Pakistan Embassy officials were trying to find buyers for these drugs. US officers posing as customers lured the Pakistanis to bring out a small quantity of the drugs. They lured them to the woods of washington and arrested them. However, all Pakistanis (its army/air force officers and also the Embassy staff were released as US and Pakistan had good relationship then.
Bank of Credit and Commerce International was a bank founded by a Pakistani and Aub Dhabi Govt. was the major shareholder. This bank became the worlds 7th largest private bank in just 10 years after founding. In the 90's this bank for cited in USA and Europe for major violations of regulations and massive money laundering activities. Drug deals and money laundering go hand-in-hand. The authorities finally shut down this bank in the 90's and many depositors lost lot of money. A son of a top army general of Pakistan was a very senior officer (Probably President) in the 80's at the Bahrain Headquarters of BCCI. At that time, this bank would pay 0.25% to 0.5% more interest than any other bank for deposits.
BIDS ARE OPEN- PROCEEDS WILL GO TO SALVAGING PIA FROM BANKRUPTCY

@Lobster:
Did you read the news story at all????? The flight was headed for London, and as far as I know London is not in Saudi Arabia.
Perhaps you have had too much of that Bakra!!!!
Congratulations to the entire Custom Preventive Team at airport. They have become courteous and efficient
Atleast they caught Heroine at Karachi Airport, saved us from shame that could have received if the drugs were caught at London.
It would be better if ANF let them go and inform Saudi authorities, here they will be out in few days, there they will be executed
Good job done by Custom Drug Enforcement Cell.
If the owner would have successfully taken out the heroin powder from Karachi, it would have been sold in UK for millions of Great Britain Pounds.
The question arises: how did the heroin reached in the toilet of the PIA Aircraft 787 after crossing several barriers at Karachi Airport including the sniffing digs?
I am sure that it may the job of the PIA crew who may have took it to the toilet of the aircraft, or the sweepers, who cleans the aircraft, as no ordinary passenger can dare to do it.
Customs Drug Enforcement Cell must reveal further investigation as who carried the heroin to the Aircraft's toilet after collecting evidences and arresting the culprits.
I am expecting the CDEC Officers should arrange a press conference to answer the questions of print and media journalists.
Maybe it is khashkhash.
