Importance of literacy: Speakers demand training for teachers

Various educational and development initiatives are being undertaken by the ITA.

KARACHI: Colleges and schools administration director Nasir Raza Jafri talked about the role of teachers in society at an event organised by Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA). Jafri asked for teachers to be provided with quality education. Various educational and development initiatives are being undertaken by the ITA, said its Sindh region manager Saba Ishrat. ITA's Learning for Access programme has allowed 62 per cent of its students to be enrolled into mainstream schooling, Ishrat claimed. She also mentioned the success of their girls' education and development initiative, Whole School Improvement programme.
