Surprise visit: Drain rainwater, Owais tells authorities

He instructed the administrator Karachi to take immediate steps to drain the water standing on roads.

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Local Bodies Syed Owais Muzzafar on Saturday paid a surprise visit to different areas of Karachi to review the problems caused by the rain. The minister went to Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Malir, Korangi, Shah Faisal Colony, Qaidabad, Liaqatabad, Gulbahar, Nazimabad and FB area and made a detailed inspection of the draining projects of Karachi Municipal Corporation.  He instructed the administrator Karachi to take immediate steps to drain the water standing on roads. Muzzafar also took notice of traffic jam in different areas and ordered Deputy Inspector General Traffic to make sure an even flow of traffic in the city.  The minister asked the municipal authorities to make a comprehensive plan to gather and dispose of animal remains after Eidul Azha. He also directed that the staff of Municipal Corporation make sure their presence during the Eid, adding that no negligence will be tolerated.
