MUZAFFARABAD: Indian troops fired mortars across the Line of Control (LoC) on Friday, killing a child and wounding three other people, officials said.

The incident took place in Nakyal sector, along the LoC, the heavily militarised de facto border between Pakistan and India.

“An 11-year-old boy was killed and three others including two women were wounded in the Indian shelling,” in senior local administration official Masood urRehman told AFP.

A senior police official in the area, Muhammad Amin, confirmed the incident and casualties.

The latest incident came almost two weeks after the prime ministers of the two countries pledged to restore calm on their disputed border in Kashmir, at a meeting in New York.

A deadly flare-up along the LoC in January brought a halt to peace talks that had only just resumed following a three-year hiatus sparked by the 2008 attacks in Mumbai that killed 166 people.

Fresh skirmishes erupted on the LoC after five Indian soldiers were killed in a raid in August.

Delhi blamed that ambush on the Pakistan Army, but Islamabad denied the claims and has repeatedly called for restraint and dialogue.

Wow, finally India is shelling PoK, unreported by Indian media. India surely plays an important role in destabilizing Balochistan and Karachi just like Pakistan is trying to destabilize Kashmir. Both countries are wasting resources in weakening each other. According to game theory and Nash’s equilibrium, result will be – both India and Pakistan will lose strategic benefits like PCB loses cricket revenue, trade ties suffer, oil pipeline from Iran suffers. What a comedy of errors. A country’s strength is pegged to a great extent to the strength of its neighbouring countries. But than Pakistan started the dirty game, so India has to play even and play dirty too. Good going. I like this game. Both India and Pakistan should keep hitting at each other. Helps to reduce India’s population too. Also, lesser development helps in saving the environment too. Just an after thought – why don’t you send Talibans to Kashmir? Will help in reducing violence in Swat. It will also give Indian forces some proxy war practice. If they keep standing without enemies, Indian forces will end up being fatty too.

don’t say India is happy to kill a child. It is just by accident. Pakistani kasab and his friends had killed 100s of people in India including so many children on purpose.

well kasab is at his deserving place now, serving as manure to Indian soil.

Similarly, Indian army has shown time and again that it is only capable of killing civilians and the unarmed which just shows how pathetic of a force they are. @Someone: So what were your LeT ‘freedom fighters doing in Mumbai? Mumbai is not seeking freedom from India you know? They are terrorists and any other label for them is simply a euphemism. I am not sure if you realize that it is precisely this attitude to justify killing innocent civilians that are different from you which is fuelling terror within Pakistan also? I is sad that making India suffer is more important for you than stopping sufering in Pakistan.

@saad: IF this was indeed a 11 year old ordinary civlian who died in the cross fire the death is to be greatly regretted but if it was a brainwashed suicide bomber that was trying to infiltrate into India then he got what he deserved.

@Jagrut Badani: “both India and Pakistan will lose strategic benefits like PCB loses cricket revenue, trade ties suffer, oil pipeline from Iran suffers”

India does not lose cricket revenue, India is not involved in IP pipeline (which by the way is a gas pipeline not an oil pipeline) and exports of less than $2 billion to Pakistan are a rounding error for a country whose exports (trade + services are over $450 billion). So I do not see any strategic loss to India. Yes – the terror victims due to Pakistan’s strategic depth policy are indeed a great loss but Pakistan has no will to stop terror – even in its own coutnry. So India just needs to guard its border well.

India has actively pursued trade with Pakistan with the idea that if people see economic benefit in their relations with India, the hatred will subside – but the Pakistan army will not let that happen.Recommend

@vijay we( indian army) are the biggest army in the world thats what your media say and they boost so much about their pathetic and coward army. We all have seen the real face of your coward army who in killing innocent children feel proud and hid under the tables or in toilets when they see the rebels and any guy with a gun even a small kid can scare your coward army. really hahah secondly for FYI that mehran base attack was done in the middle of the night and only one plane was damaged and none of the attacker was left alive those terrorist were trained by elite commandos force and only a regular navy personnel who are not trained to fight these kind of warfare were fighting them. They at least didn’t hide under their tables or in toilets they fought and gave their life if they couldn’t stop them as for your army those rebels are like regular army and they get simple training and if they get commando type training they kill 10 of your indian soldiers and none of them die thats what happened in august right? and as for the paramilitary they are called FC and not part of regular army and they for tribal areas and don’t get army type training still they are fighting at least didn’t run away like indian army does. lastly please india have kashmire now and still can’t gets their kashmir pandits to kashmir weird yes weird because muslims were the real owner of the kashmir land and whole of the world acknowledge this and they didn’t do anything stop accusing the kashmir people and stop hiding your indian army crimes. kashmir belongs to the people of kashmir who are muslims and from 1948 are fighting for their freedom.

ET Mods- someone has written to me. Please allow response.

@saad: “@gp65 i think you can’t read haina? its says indian shelling a kid died because of indian shelling which was done by indian army. ”

The problem is not with my reading skills but your comprehension skills. Of course it is the Indian army that fired in this particular case and the point I am making is that if an innocent Pakistani civilian got killed in the crossfire, it is to be greatly regretted. If the person who was killed happened to be a brainwashed terrorist trying to infiltrate India (like the 40 who tried to do so in the Keran sector), then he desrved to be killed.

“I never heard indian accusing of pakistan of violating the ceasefire when musharraf was in power because indian knew blaming pakistan will cost them but now they know civilain govt is talking about peace so they have started their slander campaign.”

You clearly know very little about history. Musharraf is the one that was coerced into agreeing to a ceasefire in 2003 when India had ramped up its army in response to JeM’s attempt to bomb the Indian parliamentin session in 2001 December. Obviously since no ceasefire agreement existed in Dec 2001, no one blamed Pakistan for violation of ceasefire – just for supporting terrorism. Similarly when India blamed Pakistan for Kargill your brave Musharraf did not even dare to take back the dead bodies of soldiers whom he had sent to fight in Kargill – instead he claimed that these were just local Kashmiris. Your same Musharraf was the COAS at the time when Pakistan was forced to declare unilateral ceasefire at Kargill, when India started to retaliate.Recommend

The twisted logic of my friends from across the border always escapes my mind. Anything happens in India and before even a formal investigation takes place, put it on Pakistan and demonize all Pakistanies for being cruel blood thirsty terroists…

And then if any Pakistani civilain or even a child dies from their shelling, bring in unrelated topics, justify the act, call it deserving and boast yourselves as heros! No remorse, no regrets and no sympathies..

Whenever I read these statements from Indians full of malicious hatred and jealousy, I realize exactly why Pakistan was made in the first place. May God bless Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Iqbal, and our forebearers for their remarkable insight and vision which has allowed us to live in freedom and self-respect. I am proud to be part of a country which does not prescribe to racism or other-ism to form an identity. Pakistan is for all lovers of humanity and peace.

All I hear from these Indians is talk of revenge and war, no compromise on any point, abuse of religion, and lack of respect for anything different from them. I am proud of the restraint, mercy, forgiveness, and foresight of Pakistan’s military and leaders for even these diehard fanatics in India. God blesses those who walk the path of truth and peace. Long Live Pakistan.
