The incident took place in Nakyal sector, along the LoC, the heavily militarised de facto border between Pakistan and India.
"An 11-year-old boy was killed and three others including two women were wounded in the Indian shelling," in senior local administration official Masood urRehman told AFP.
A senior police official in the area, Muhammad Amin, confirmed the incident and casualties.
The latest incident came almost two weeks after the prime ministers of the two countries pledged to restore calm on their disputed border in Kashmir, at a meeting in New York.
A deadly flare-up along the LoC in January brought a halt to peace talks that had only just resumed following a three-year hiatus sparked by the 2008 attacks in Mumbai that killed 166 people.
Fresh skirmishes erupted on the LoC after five Indian soldiers were killed in a raid in August.
Delhi blamed that ambush on the Pakistan Army, but Islamabad denied the claims and has repeatedly called for restraint and dialogue.

Whenever I read these statements from Indians full of malicious hatred and jealousy, I realize exactly why Pakistan was made in the first place. May God bless Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Iqbal, and our forebearers for their remarkable insight and vision which has allowed us to live in freedom and self-respect. I am proud to be part of a country which does not prescribe to racism or other-ism to form an identity. Pakistan is for all lovers of humanity and peace.
All I hear from these Indians is talk of revenge and war, no compromise on any point, abuse of religion, and lack of respect for anything different from them. I am proud of the restraint, mercy, forgiveness, and foresight of Pakistan's military and leaders for even these diehard fanatics in India. God blesses those who walk the path of truth and peace. Long Live Pakistan.

The twisted logic of my friends from across the border always escapes my mind. Anything happens in India and before even a formal investigation takes place, put it on Pakistan and demonize all Pakistanies for being cruel blood thirsty terroists...
And then if any Pakistani civilain or even a child dies from their shelling, bring in unrelated topics, justify the act, call it deserving and boast yourselves as heros! No remorse, no regrets and no sympathies..

Wow, finally India is shelling PoK, unreported by Indian media. India surely plays an important role in destabilizing Balochistan and Karachi just like Pakistan is trying to destabilize Kashmir. Both countries are wasting resources in weakening each other. According to game theory and Nash's equilibrium, result will be - both India and Pakistan will lose strategic benefits like PCB loses cricket revenue, trade ties suffer, oil pipeline from Iran suffers. What a comedy of errors. A country's strength is pegged to a great extent to the strength of its neighbouring countries. But than Pakistan started the dirty game, so India has to play even and play dirty too. Good going. I like this game. Both India and Pakistan should keep hitting at each other. Helps to reduce India's population too. Also, lesser development helps in saving the environment too. Just an after thought - why don't you send Talibans to Kashmir? Will help in reducing violence in Swat. It will also give Indian forces some proxy war practice. If they keep standing without enemies, Indian forces will end up being fatty too.
