Free-for-all: Traffic violators not to be booked till Eid
Police chief said that during Eid days, all recreational venues would be monitored to avoid any untoward incident.
MUZAFFARABAD:
While highlighting the security plan chalked out for Eidul Azha, Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s (AJK) top cop said on Wednesday that from Friday onwards, the traffic police will not fine any transporter till Eid. In an unusual move to reduce the trust deficit between the police and public, the IGP announced that the drivers who violate traffic rules will be educated rather than punished. Awan said 4.01 million residents of AJK need more than 5,000 policemen to fulfil international standards of policing. “More than 1,700 policemen, 550 traffic policemen and 150 Special Branch personnel will guard the 545 mosques, imambargahs and open grounds where thousands of people will offer Eid prayers,” he added. The police chief also said that during Eid days, all recreational venues would be monitored to avoid any untoward incident.
