Lyari connection: Three kidnappers killed, seven arrested

MARDAN: Three alleged kidnappers were killed and seven others including a man, his wife and their children from the Lyari area of Karachi were taken into custody in a crackdown by Mardan police on Wednesday. A kidnapped man Muhammad Hussain was also recovered during the raid. In his office, DPO Mardan Gul Afzal Khan, along with SP City Faisal Shahzad, told journalists that investigation into the kidnapping of Hussain led the police team to a house in Ashrafabad area of Mardan. The kidnappers opened fire at police and in retaliation three kidnappers were killed, he said. SP Faisal said that one of those killed was identified as Akhtar Ali, a resident of Lyari. He said a family of five Shaukat Ali, his wife Kalsoom, two daughters aged nine and seven and four year-old son, who were also present in the house, were taken into custody.
