Two top officials of their respective police stations in the district west of Karachi were killed in a drive-by shooting by armed men on Wednesday night.


SHO of the Sir Syed police station, Syed Irfan Haider and Station Investigation Officer (SIO) of the New Karachi police station, sub-inspector Shahbaz Ali were targeted in North Karachi locality.


Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah taking serious notice of the incident ordered an inquiry report from the Sindh IGP Shahid Nadeem Baloch.


According to eyewitness both police inspectors were having tea at a local teashop near Habib Masjid in Anda Morr, North Karachi when two hit men riding a motorcycle took them down and escaped.


A police mobile on routine snap checking was also stationed near the spot, however, the culprits managed to escape before the police could take action.


Inspector Haider belonged to shia community and had served at various police stations of the city as SHO. He was given charge of Sir Syed police station about 15 days ago.
