PESHAWAR:

Noreen Bibi was severely burnt when her husband, Muhammad Tariq, assisted by his father and brother, threw acid at her.

The incident was reported in Sethi Town, within the jurisdiction of Pahripura police station, on Tuesday night.

Police said Muhammad Tariq had an argument with Noreen Bibi over her inheritance. He was forcing her to ask her father for her share in the family property. When she refused to comply, Tariq, his father Shad Muhammad and brother Muhammad Zulfiqar, threw acid at her, leaving her severely burnt.

“Noreen Bibi has been hospitalised and the police has registered an FIR on her complaint against the three accused,” a police official said. The accused fled their house while the condition of the woman was said to be critical.

She told the police at the hospital that her husband and two others emptied three bottles full of acid on her when she refused to demand her share in property from her father, the police added.
