Incessant attacks: Waziristan tribal elder killed in Tank

Unidentified armed men killed a tribal elder in his house in Gomal village, Tank district, on Tuesday.


A police official at the Gomal police station said the deceased, identified as Naitullah Mehsud, belonged to South Waziristan Agency. Naitullah’s father Muhammad Farooq Mehsud has registered a case against the unidentified accused.

Muhammad Farooq said the family had no known enemies. I don’t know why anyone would attack my son, he said.

This was the third such incident in the district in two days. On Tuesday, Gulab Khan was on his way to collect ration allocated for internally displaced persons (IDPs) when he was killed by unidentified men, within the jurisdiction of Saddar police station, Tank. Gulab also belonged to South Waziristan. In another incident, Ashfaq Khan was gunned down by unidentified men.

The police have registered FIRs and have started investigations on the cases.

On, Tuesday pro-government tribal elder from Gandao, Mohmand Agency, Malik Haji Sadat Sher was gunned down by unidentified assailants on Charsadda Road while he was travelling to Peshawar.
