Lyari raid: Rangers recover weapons from PPP MPA's car
Rangers seized armaments which included Kalashnikovs and bullets.
KARACHI:
Weapons were found in the trunk and backseat of Provincial Minister for Kutchi Abadis and Spatial Development Jawaid Nagori’s car during a raid in Lyari by Rangers, Express News reported on Wednesday.
The Rangers had carried out the raid on a tip-off, seizing armaments which included Kalashnikovs and bullets.
The Pakistan Peoples Party's MPA in his statement said, “The weapons were not illegal and I have licenses for them.”
He further stated, “I had these weapons for security as I have been a target of bomb blasts and firing before.”
“Rangers should keep on carrying out such raids as this gives a positive message to the public,” he added.
Target Nagori
On August 7, a bomb went off outside a packed football ground in the densely populated area of Lyari in Karachi killing at least 11 people and injuring 26 others.
The apparent target of the blast was Jawaid Nagori.
As a result of the blast, minister’s car was also destroyed, and the paving on which it was parked gave way as well.
This was not the first attack on Nagori. He was previously attacked during his election campaign in May this year.
