An anti-terrorism court (ATC) dismissed on Monday the bail application of Pakistan Peoples' Party MNA Shahjahan Baloch. He was nominated as a suspect in the abduction and murder case of a notorious gangster, Arshad Pappu.
Besides, the investigating officer, Muhammad Yamin Gujjar, submitted a report regarding the proclamation and confiscation of the property of the suspects before the court.
Gujjar said that the Mukhtiarkar had told him that the suspected criminals had no property registered in their names. The IO said that all other formalities, including the proclamation of the suspects, have been completed.
Following the submission of the report, the court confirmed the suspects as absconders. The case will be reopened whenever they are arrested, said court officials.
Earlier, an ATC court had declared the suspects, leader of the banned Peoples Amn Committee Uzair Jan Baloch, Habib Jan Baloch, Noor Muhammad alias Baba Ladla, Asif Kana, Zahid Ladla, Faisal Pathan, Yasir Pathan, Inspector Jan Khan Niazi and Inspector Javed Baloch, proclaimed offenders and had ordered to confiscate their property on July 23. Later, Inspector Baloch was arrested and produced before the court that sent him on judicial remand till October 19.
Arshad Pappu, his brother, Yasir Arafat, and their confidant, Juma Shera, were killed on the night of March 16.
According to the FIR registered on the complaint of Arshad Pappu's widow, the alleged gangster along with his brother, a confidant and his 10-year-old son had gone to attend a party at a friend's apartment in the DHA on the night of March 16.
The boy came back at around midnight and informed his mother that around 20 men in two vehicles came to the apartment and kidnapped his father and the two others.
The complainant stated in the FIR that the victims were killed after being subjected to torture. She alleged that the offence was committed on the behest of MNA Shahjahan Baloch.
The case was adjourned till October 19.
