He is a suspect in the murder of a resident from Batapur.
Butt won the elections in constituency NA- 130 beating Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) Samina Khalid Ghurki.
Murder
In 2012, Butt and his accomplices were accused of shooting Hafiz Tariq Muavia, a former Lashkar-i-Jhangvi member, and his guard on Ring Road.
Muavia and his guard, Shoaib Akram, 23, died on the spot, while another guard, Saleem, and Muavia’s driver, Ashfaq, were taken to Mayo Hospital, where they were reported to be in a critical condition.
Police had initially said that there was evidence of an old enmity between Butt and Muavia. He said Muavia was imprisoned for six years in 2010, for killing a party worker, Arif Butt, who was related to Sohail Shaukat Butt. Muavia was granted bail.

Now murder is a small matter to settle dispute in Pakistan . No hanging for murderer, may be few years behind the bars.

Probably the closest the PML-N will ever come to cracking down on the LeJ.
What has PMLN done in this regard. They need to show that they do not condone activities of such people. He should be suspended from the party until he is cleared or charges proven...in which case expelled.
Also why was he chosen by PMLN when they knew he has that type of a background? PMLN SHOULD GIVE A PROPER EXPLANATION and take immediate REAL ACTION.
Sadly this shows that they gave tickets to criminals just for the sake of winning a few lousy seats.
When is the next NRO getting passed where he will be pardoned?
I think if he decalred guilty for this crime, this MNA will use the law of Qassas/Deeyat & once again he restored his former position. I must say that our current "Justice System" is so dirty. This system give proctection to only "Powerful man"... Justice should be fair for everyone.
I am from his constituency, although i am N supporter still i did not vote for him because i know they are involved in criminal activities. I was shocked at the decision when he was awarded with party ticket. He must be given exemplary punishment if convicted.

The prosecution will fail in its job.......and the courts will take the easy way out, by saying that the prosecution has failed to prove the case........and then the government will raise the salaries of both........its scripted so and all follow the script because it works, but for how long. The media MUST exercise its clout for the peoples sake.

even if he is proved guilty he would not be given death penalty as the masters of the corrupt Pakistani rulers in Europe have stopped death penalties for murderers, rapists, terrorists etc. in this country
