Health risk: Nine held for selling stale meat

ISLAMABAD:


The Islamabad Police and district administration seized 400 kilograms of substandard meat from Jhangi Syedan on Saturday and arrested nine people.


According to an official, the Tarnol police acted on information about the sale of substandard meat in the area.


A special team comprising Food Inspector Raja Muhammad Arshad,
Tarnol Station House Officer Sub-Inspector Sattar Baig and Sub-Inspectors Muhammad Idrees and Gul Nawaz raided the meat seller’s warehouse and arrested nine people for selling
meat injurious to human health.


The police recovered 400 kilograms of meat and started further investigations from those arrested. The meat was being sold in low-income markets at cheap rates.


The arrested suspects were identified as Malik Wasim, Imtiaz Hussain, Muhammad Nadeem Qureshi, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Waqas, Rashid Mehmood, Imran Ali, Muhammad Abid and Adil Hussain.
