Armed assault: Police officials injured in raid

The police cordoned off the area and began a search operation.

ABBOTABAD: Four policemen were injured in an encounter between police and suspected militants along with Additional Superintendent of Police Faisal Bakhtiar and two officials of an intelligence agency in the wee hours of Thursday.

According to the police, senior police officials, acting on a tip-off, raided a house in Mangal area after which suspected militants inside the house opened fire and injured the officials, including DSP Hafiz Janis, Inspector Abdul Qayyum and constable Shahid. The wounded were rushed to a hospital where they are being treated whereas the ASP and DSP were released after being treated for minor wounds. The police cordoned off the area and began a search operation to look for the militants who escaped from the scene.
