Besham Circle DSP Amjid Khan said a vehicle full of explosives was asked to pull over at around 10:30pm during routine checking. The police recovered 1,000 kilogrammes of explosives hidden in 40 cartons. The accused Sajjad Hussain and Muhammad Nazir, residents of Mansehra, were arrested, the DSP added. During interrogation, the accused told the police they were shifting explosives to Kohistan and were going to hand them over to Saranzeb Khan, a mine contractor.
They claim Saranzeb was going to use the explosives for blasting rocks in the mine. The explosives were shifted to the police stations and further investigation is underway.
