RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has set up a computerised survey network in major cities of the province to bring houses in the property tax net and help people register their houses online. Once the network is set up, people will be able to access necessary information regarding the property tax online. The powers of the Excise and Taxation Department will also be mitigated once the system becomes functional, said an official. Rawalpindi Excise and Taxation Director said work on computerisation of the department’s record has been expedited to identify houses that are out of the tax net. He said 70 per cent of the work is done and the rest will be completed by next year. The director said teams comprising surveyors of the urban development department and inspectors of the excise and taxation department are paying door-to-door visits to collect data on houses. He added that a special cell will be set up to deal with public complaints.
