Concealed bomb: Two injured in explosion in Bannu

Two people, including a retired Frontier Corps (FC) official, were severely injured when a bomb exploded in Miryan, Bannu on Wednesday.


According to Miryan police official Malik Ihsan, injured FC official Gul Naseeb told the police he and Anwar Kamal brought their sheep for grazing in Amir Hamza Kaski when they spotted a thermos lying on the ground. Naseeb added the flask exploded when they opened the lid.


Locals rushed the injured men to District Headquarters Hospital, Bannu where doctors referred Kamal to a hospital in Peshawar due to his critical injuries.

Meanwhile, unidentified militants fired multiple rockets from an unknown direction which landed in Bannu Cantonment, creating panic among the residents.

Police official Zaman Shah said two rockets landed in Kurram River and exploded. He added security forces along with the police beefed up security in the area after the incident and made preparations for a retaliatory attack if needed.
