MQM calls murder allegations a conspiracy against the party. DESIGN: FILE
In a statement issued by the party's Rabita Committee hours after AIG Shahid Hayat's press conference in Karachi, the party challenged police's claim that MQM activist Kazim Abbas Rizvi was picked up on Monday night.
"He has been in police custody for the last few days and was arrested on September 27 from his house. The whole neighborhood is a witness to that."
The statement called it a 'well thought-out conspiracy'.
"It clearly shows that MQM rivals have started a media trial of the party. It is a well thought-out conspiracy against the popular party of the millions."
The Raabta Committee said the party supported the operation for the restoration of peace, but would not stand for conspiracies.
"MQM had always supported measures taken by the government for the restoration of peace in Karachi. The party would continue to support such measures. However, this kind of whispering campaign against a popular party would not be tolerated."
Demand to form operation monitoring committee
In light of the raid on the party's Landhi office, MQM called on the Prime Minister and Federal Interior Minister for the formation of a representative committee that will monitor the targeted operations taking place in the city.
The statement added that unless charges were proven, one could not be held responsible for murder.
"It is outrageous a person should be declared a criminal on the basis of accusations."

@Sahil: Dr. Imran Farooq was also MQM leader and so was Azeem Tariq, and so was many other slain workers who lost their lives in internal bhatta battles. But off course there is no awkward moment for the terrorist organization :::

Whenever any MQM affiliated militant is arrested, MQM always terms it "a conspiracy" . It is so typical of MQM to act like a cry baby.
What conspiracy. Addl IG Shahid Hayat is the brave son of a brave man, Malik Shahid Hamid, MD KESC, who was trying to clean up the company but was murdered by MQM in Defence Karachi in 1997, the murderer was caught and was given death penalty by ATC and ALL courts have upheld the death penalty. The murderer’s name is Saulat Mirza and he made confession of this murder and over 50 other murders including Hakeem Saeed. But the murderer has not been hanged till date.
