Fake degree case: Former MPA’s sentence suspended

The Gujrat judge had sentenced Mahmood to 18 months in prison after finding him guilty of submitting a fake degree .

LAHORE: A Lahore High Court division bench on Tuesday suspended the sentence of former PML-N MPA Haji Nasir Mahmood in a fake degree case and released him on bail.

The Gujrat district and sessions judge had sentenced Mahmood to 18 months in prison after finding him guilty of submitting a fake degree to the Election Commission of Pakistan along with his nomination papers for the 2008 general elections. He challenged his conviction before the LHC division bench, which has suspended the sentence and granted him bail at Rs200,000.
