LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday directed the Gujranwala district and sessions judge to look into the alleged abduction and forced marriage of a 13-year-old girl and report to the court about the police’s handling of the incident. The court took notice of a press report on the matter, in which a Hameedpura resident named Allah Ditta alleged that his 40-year-old neighbour Ramazan alias Jani had kidnapped his daughter with the help of Sadiq and Shaheen Bibi. He alleged that they detained her for a week, during which time they made her sign a marriage certificate at gunpoint. Allah Ditta has also expressed doubt about the impartiality of the investigation officer in the case, Ishaq, who was allegedly pressing the complainant to settle.
