The attack targeted a bus of Civil Secretariat employees that was carrying around 30-40 people.
The bomb was placed in the back of the bus.
Injured
Police and rescue officials reached the area shortly after the blast, and the injured were taken to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) and Charsadda District Headquarters Hospital.
Emergency was declared in LRH after the blast. The injured were shifted to the hospitals in private cars and ambulances.
Blast
According to the bomb disposal squad (BDS), the bomb contained around six to seven kilogrammes of explosive material and had a timed device attached to it.
The explosion was so intense that it threw the bus far from the blast site.
Despite police presence in the area, bus parts and other key material was not immediately collected for investigation, and locals were seen making away with evidence.
Background
Peshawar has been a target of militant attacks for the past decade.
On September 22, a pair of suicide bombers blew themselves up outside a 130-year-old Anglican church in Peshawar, killing at least 81 people in the deadliest attack on Christians in the country.
Last year in June, 19 people were killed and 20 injured in a bomb attack on a Civil Secretariat bus.

Another sad day in Peshawar where nineteen people lost their lives in yet another terrorists attack. Our heartfelt condolences go to the families of the people martyred in this horrific attack. We hope and pray for the people injured, for their fast and full recovery. The terrorist agenda is to create mayhem and that is exactly what they are doing. Any one of you 'dialogue' supporters ever stop and wonder what if the TTP doesn't want dialogue and their only goal is to make the Pakistani state surrender and become the Islamic Emirate Of Pakistan with the TTP as the judge/jury/executioner. I feel really sad for the government employees who lost their lives. PakistanI govt has miserably failed. This is all due to the double headed hydra policies of the govt of pakistan. IK should negotiate with roadside bombs, suicide jackets, mines, grenades, RPGs, rifles, pistols, bullets, knives and let them open office in Peshawar where they could easily be contacted.

There was an attack in Quetta as well but I guess that doesn't matter since PML N won from Balochistan. That is not PML N's fault but somehow this attack is IK's fault. Pure hypocrisy from the leaders and people.

Though I am a biggest critic of IK government, but continuation of terrorist attacks shows that there is a massive conspiracy has been made to fail IK government, we all witness the Peshawar church blast recently, this is what they want to divert our anger towards IK government. Both PTI and PML-N have blood on their hands. PML-N for its inaction despite having clear mandate and cowing to the terrorists. And PTI for advocating the cause of the TTP. Both have forgotten that they cannot unilaterally offer blanket amnesty to the murderers, and let the blood of 50,000 martyrs and 1 million injured go down the gutter. The justice demands that the killers be given exemplary punishments.

The PTI should allow the Taliban to open their office near Governor's House, Peshawar, so they can better plan their future attacks on people and government vehicles in Peshawar and other cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Thank-you Imran Khan for your "wisdom" and support of the TTP. Whether you and your party bring about "Naya Pakistan" is yet to be seen, but at least we now know what "Naya" Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has become under your party's "guidance" and "leadership".
Rest in peace. Do not loose hope and one day these barbaric TTP will be eliminated for once our leaders understand these are un-negotiable and only thing they understand guns and bullets.
