PESHAWAR:

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday disposed of an application filed against the life imprisonment of a man. The accused has been charged for murdering his wife and two children.

A two-member bench of Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan and Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan was informed that the accused, Nawab Ali from Swabi, opened fire on his wife Rifat Bibi, their children Aamir and Sumbal, and another man identified as Iftikhar on May 24, 2011, killing them all.

The lower court had ordered four times life imprisonment and a fine of Rs1 million to the accused, after which he approached the PHC to reconsider the sentence.

After hearing the background of the case and the arguments presented, PHC ordered that the sentence given by the lower court should be upheld.
