KARACHI: The recent floods that devastated lives for millions in Pakistan inspired Pakistan’s medal-winning wrestler Azhar Hussain to shine.

Hussain, Pakistan’s most successful athlete in the ongoing Commonwealth Games with a gold and a silver, was left shattered just weeks ago when the floods damaged his house in Muzaffargarh.

“The flood took everything from my countrymen and a lot from me as well but it gave me the strength to do something for my country,” Azhar told The Express Tribune.

Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) Chairman Arif Hasan has promised support for flood-affected Hussain after his achievement.

“We will support him and announce a reward for him after the event and I request the other authorities to do the same,” said Hasan.
