LAHORE: Lahore police has resorted to lie detectors after failing to make any headway following interrogation of suspects in a child’s rape case. SSP Investigation Chaudhry Abdul Rab confirmed that two suspects, Zafar and Amir Shehzad, had to pass through a polygraph test, while Zafar Malshiya had also been detained by the police as he bore resemblance to the man in the CCTV footage. The Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) DG Dr Ashraf Tahir told The Express Tribune that the police had brought suspects in the rape case for a polygraph test to the forensic laboratory but had refused to disclose whether any of them had tested positive. Another official of the PFSA said that the suspects had been brought earlier too, but since their physical condition did not qualify them to take the test. Due to sleep deprivation and low sugar levels, they had been taken back. Abdul Rab also said that the semen specimens from the victim’s clothes were sent to the forensic lab along with samples from the accused, for a DNA match. The police await results of the test.
