KARACHI:

The bail of a suspect detained in connection with Dr Imran Farooq’s murder case has been extended till the end of the year. The 52-year-old suspect (unofficially identified as Iftikhar Hussain) was presented at a London police station on Tuesday morning. He would now appear at a later date in December, the London Metropolitan Police said on Tuesday.

Hussain, who was arrested by the Met Police at Heathrow airport upon his arrival from Canada on June 24, is said to be a close relative of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain. He was taken into custody on suspicion of ‘conspiracy to murder’ but was released on bail to return to a police station on September 24.

A Met Police spokesperson told The Express Tribune that the suspect has been ‘re-bailed’ and would be brought to a police station in December. The date of his next appearance was not disclosed.
