Defence production: Joint efforts with China urged

Pakistan wants China to invest and extend its technological support in ship-building sector, says minister.

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Defence Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain on Tuesday said that China has great potential in ship-building sector and Pakistan wants China to invest and extend its technological support. He said that Pakistan wants to raise the relationship status to a strategic level with its time-tested friend. He also highlighted that the fast paced method for addressing issues of bilateral concern should be discussed in the shape of a joint committee mechanism which would ensure growth of Sino-Pak cooperation in field of Defence Production. Secretary Defence Production, Lieutenant General (retd) Tanvir Tahir emphasised the need for streamlining matters of defence cooperation. Vice Administrator Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, Zhang Jianhua praised Pakistan’s far-sighted approach a building a new shipyard.
