Three policemen were among six people killed on Monday when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off in Pishin district of Balochistan. Eight other people sustained injuries in the attack.
Police officials said the blast occurred during a routine snap check at a check post in the Saranan area of Pishin.
A police van and a private vehicle were damaged in the blast. The police immediately rushed to the spot shortly after the incident and shifted the injured to hospitals.
District Police Officer Mehboob Arshad, while talking to The Express Tribune, said the bomb was detonated when a car was being checked.
“Three of our policemen were killed in the blast, while eight people were injured,” he said. “It was a remote-controlled blast and approximately eight kilogrammes of explosives were used in the bomb,” he stated, confirming that the bomb was planted by the road side.
Meanwhile sources said the police had recovered a refugee card belonging to Abdur Rauf from the spot and investigations were under way.
