Imam Bukhsh had gone to court saying that Muhammad Sharif Junejo, Mukhtar and two other men came to his shop at Rufi Shopping Centre and took him, his son Muhammad Jameel, and an employee Muhammad Akbar, into custody on April 10 this year, on charges of selling weapons within the limits of the Mobina Town police station. In his application under section 22-A of the Criminal Procedure Code, Bukhsh claimed that the men introduced themselves as CID officials and snatched their mobile phones and cash.
Bukhsh added that the men then took them to his house from where they took away gold and cash and gave directions to the family to arrange Rs1 million for their safe release. He said they were confined in a quarter for three days, after which the men agreed to take half a million for their release.
Following the incident, Bukhsh claimed that he went to the Mobina Town police station but the SHO refused to register FIR. Subsequently, the court ordered to record Bukhsh’s statement under section 154 and take action if a cognisable offence was made out against the men.
The SHO, however, refused to comply with the court orders. Following his application, an additional district and sessions judge in district East, issued a contempt notice to the SHO with directions to submit a reply in a day
