DI KHAN CUM TANK:

The national assembly constituency that had been a traditional stronghold of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam - Fazl (JUI-F) has finally been snatched by the ruling K-P party in the latest episode of the by-elections, based on unconfirmed and unofficial poll figures communicated to The Express Tribune.

By-elections took place on Wednesday in NA-25 D I Khan cum Tank where the PTI candidate Engineer Dawar Khan Kundi secured the NA seat with 64,218 votes in the complete result of all polling stations with JUI-F chief’s son, Asad Mehmood lagging behind with 52,315votes.

In a unlikely coalition, the PPP, PML-N and ANP all supported the PTI candidate to present a united front against the JUI-F candidate.

The seat had been won by the JUI-F candidates in the last three general elections, including the May 11 polls.

Earlier the by-elections in the NA-25 constituency were postponed from August 22 due to security reasons.
