MUZAFFARABAD/ ISLAMABAD:

In yet another ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC), a woman was killed and a man injured as Indian troops resorted to shelling in the Nakyal Sector of Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s (AJK) Kotli District, some 200 kilometres from Muzaffarabad, sources told The Express Tribune.

The Indian troops fired mortar shells on Lanjot village and its adjoining areas, killing Nasreen Akhter whereas one Zaheer Younas received multiple injuries when shells hit his house. The shells also damaged dozens of other houses. A few heads of cattle were also injured in the attack.

Assistant Commissioner Nakyal Chaudhry Ayub said that Indian firing created panic among the residents living along the LoC in Lanjot area. This is the fourth LOC violation this month.

The injured Zaheer was rushed to Nakyal Hospital where doctors declared him out of danger. The Pakistan Army did not officially comment on the incident.
