The Sindh Assembly session that starts today (Wednesday) is likely to witness an uproar on the law and order situation and the targeted operation in Karachi.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement's (MQM) Khawaja Izharul Hassan, Irum Farooqi, Heer Ismail Soho, Saifudddin Khalid and Muhammad Hussain Khan had submitted their adjournment motion to discuss the law and order situation and the arrest of their party workers. Meanwhile, MQM MPA Jamal Ahmed moved a privilege motion against a raid conducted at his office by the law enforcers.
Another item on the agenda includes the witness protection bill of Sindh. Meanwhile, a draft regarding the rules and procedures to be amended would be presented in the session and the government would announce the formation of standing committees, house committee and public accounts committee.
Talking to The Express Tribune Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Sikandar Mandhro said that they would consult the parliamentary leader of each party to nominate their members for the standing committee and public accounts committee.
Besides, the governor gave assent to Sindh Local Government Bill 2013, Sindh Universities Bill 2013. The question-answers of the information department have also been listed on the agenda. On the other hand, a PPP parliamentary meeting was held in which senior leaders devised a strategy on how to deal with the situation during the proceedings.
Earlier, the MQM had submitted a requisition to the speaker to summon a session to discuss the law and order situation and the arrest of their workers, but the government called the session on its own accord.
