The 10th Pizza Hut Open Super series Ranking Tennis Championship 2013 came to a close at the Karachi Gymkhana yesterday, highlighting the competition for the intellectually challenged athletes and players with learning disabilities.


In the special boys’ event, Muhammad Ahsan overcame Abdul Rehman whereas Sana Jawed defeated Iqra Batool in the special girls’ singles final.

Saqib Mallah took the trophy for the players with hearing disabilities.

In the main event of the championship, top seed Aqeel Khan clinched the men’s singles title. Aqeel defeated second-seed Yasir Khan 6-4, 6-2, while both players paired up to win the men’s doubles event against Jalil Khan and Khalid Ali Nazar.

In other matches, Malik Hamza defeated Muhammad Raza Sawani 6-2, 7-6 to lift the boys’ U17 singles trophy, while Muhammad Dada outclassed Rayyan Jawad 8-1 in the boys U11 singles final.
