It has been reported that the girl was playing in a market area when she was picked up by unknown persons, who raped her.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and investigations were underway.
Police claimed that five suspects linked to the incident had been arrested. Two of the suspects are reported to be brothers.
The victim is reported to be in critical condition and will be transferred to Allied Hospital.
A five-year old was earlier kidnapped and brutally raped in Lahore.
The girl was found outside a hospital at around 8pm on Friday a day after she went missing from a low-income neighbourhood in Lahore.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry had ordered the police chief of Punjab province to inform the court about the progress of the investigation after hearing reports about the rape victim late Friday.

@SHB: "Rape is a rape. It has nothing to do with any religion of the person . Period It should be treated as a crime where ever it happens ".
Well, it was not so when a 6 year hindu girl was picked up from her home and raped for 3 or 4 muslim men just recently in Pakistan. The police even refused to file a FIR. Nothing has happened to the culprits so far.
Another aspect of rape and pedophilia(sexual perversions towards children) is a psychological aspects. Most of rapists have few psychological stimulants for rape as I understand. ALCOHOL AND DRUGS: Please do not underestimate the use of illicit drugs and alcoholism in our society. As a doctor, I strongly believe that stats are alarming. BROKEN HOMES: Rapists as children suffered domestic violence and they identified with their abuser. RAPED OR MOLESTED AS A CHILD: Very major reason guys.Very high chances of becoming a rapist in adult life if u were raped as a child. AND FOR MUSLIMS: Lack of believe in GOD. Every criminal has a sense that I will get away with this crime.I have planned it good and my plan is flawless.Until and unless you have belief that even if I get away with this in this life,I wont get away in the afterlife. No man made laws can absolutely stop a criminal from doing the crime because one would think that if I leave no traces,I can get away.So these issues also need to be addressed right from where they stem.We have to raise our moral and religious standards in our homes and raise our children by giving them an excellent moral character of our own.
@Ali: do you know which country of the world has the highest recorded rate of violence against women? It is Sweden, one of the world´s most civilized country! The reason are mainly the Muslim immigrants!!!
In all European countries, violence against the wife is a crime and forceful sex against the wish of the wife is rape!!!
In Pakistan, rape of the wife is not a crime and neither is there any record!!! If our country would adopt the European law, then ask yourself how many husbands, how many clergies, how many lawmakers might be charged as rapists!
@Raj - USA: Rape is a rape. It has nothing to do with any religion of the person . Period It should be treated as a crime where ever it happens .
@Libra: By reading your post, i can not stop wondering what kind of a sick, pervert, you must be. you disgust me to the highest level. Puke all over your ugly thinking
We have at least 10 times more Rapes than India , Particularity small Child is Specialty . Media Should Report these News , May it will Be shame for us But It will create Environment to Harsh Punishment to Rapist and Better Laws and Safe Environment For Women In Pakistan.
We shouldn't scare For Bad Publicity(we already Have Enough) We should Care For our Women , Due to Hiding of these wounds , it have become Infection and It's Time To Remove It.
@Libra: What if i say Islam is the cause?
@Arifq: Well they cannot forgive him under Islamic law, only Blood can be forgiven by the next of Kin. Not crime like rapes etc.
@aqib: By saying "we are returning" you imply that we were very civilised previously !
@Usman: '...no fan of Indian cultural export', Thats right you have a culture of your own which is Arab, or is it? @Libra: Indian channels are causing 'libido'! Your mum must be in great danger after you're done watching Indian channels.
Rapes are not specific to culture or religion.Rapists have no religion as terrorists do not have.Laws need to be changed. How comw rapists be pardoned in the name of allah when their act is against the allah.Culprits must be punished as the delhi gang rape culprits.
I have one question for the Pakistani muslims, mainly Sunnis.
Had this girl been a hindu girl what would they say or how would they react?
OK, it just does not happen because young hindu girls are raped within the family homes of decent muslims and not on streets.
Unless the muslims of Pakistan start to probe the past instances of raped conversions of hindu girls, nothing will improve. Woman should take an initiative in demanding a probe of NADRA records because they were as much guilty as their men and provided support to their men to carry out these acts in their homes. Such a probe would shame all muslim woman for their roles in these immoral acts. As the seeds the woman watered and nurtured in their homes has now taken firm root, we shall only see more of these in Pakistan.
It could be that it is the fault of this 5 year old girl as she was not wearing Burka.
@syed baqar ahsan: First your comment has got nothing to do with the news article. Since you posted your comment so I thought I will give you some perspective. What you posted I had read it same way in the news at that time. Mr Musharraf at that time decided to get him killed or arrested, alive or dead, it did not matter to him. Musharraf was a general and armyman by training and by profession. Mr Bugti was a politician, Jagirdar or big landlord and tribal chief and having big ego. By eliminating Mr Bugti. Musharraf got short term relief but long term problem for himself and for Pakistan. This is one of differences between dictatorship and democratic processes. Politicians can have 101 differences but they still find the way to see each other next day. Another example in life is getting married Vs having girl friend. Being married you are committed to the relationship , so when you have differences with your spouse, you try to find the way out of impasse You do not want your suitcase sitting outside the front door. On the other hand with your girlfriend, you might walk out yourself or she can ditch you too for any reason.
So the bottom line is that Mr Musharraf made a major mistake and that is why he is in a box today.
@nangamujahid: First you should limit your comment to the news article. Second for your information, she is now US citizen and she made this choice by her free will. So under US laws she has been punished and put in jail. Pakistan has got nothing to do and she should not be brought back to Pakistan.period
@Libra: I am no fan of Indian cultural exports, but please, before you discredit yourself making such assertions do provide some proof.
What I think is, due to recent Rape incidents in Mumbai..Indians might have done it.
@Omar Khurshid: you are copying India by REPORTING thousands of rapes in pakistan.
@aqib: we are in and all out efforts to remain so with complete sincerity. Bugti went to cave and died of his own detonated explosive and all blame thrown on Musharraf and the army.
why cannot we protest like Dehli?? This is sick. Now they will say "bachi peda hoi to burqa pehna do"
What if the child's parents forgive the accused under Islamic laws?
@Libra: Ummm, if what you're saying is true, then how do you explain all the inhumane rapes that happened over 2 centuries ago and earlier ?
Its no secret that the state of women's rights in Pakistan, especially with regards to rape are horrible. They're made worse by the social stigma/persecution on women, if the women were to report it.
In many regards, the one thing that's going favourably for this poor little girl is her age. Just imagine if she was over 15 years older, or beyond that. Not only would she be charged with adultery, but brutally insulted by having her morals questioned by the very 'brazen and entitled' criminals and their respective lawyers.
^ That I actually ended up presenting the most disgusting aspect of the whole story in a light that gives her some chance of justice, as opposed to none, stands as some indication as to the state of our country with regards to these matters.
Such millions of rapists, murderers, acid-throwers, necrophiliac, terrorists, violence glorifiers etc etc etc etc etc etc, are the inevitable consequence of any sick and schizophrenic society.
In most of these offenders resides a weeping, abused or deprived child, who accordingly seeks an outlet. The intensity of committed crimes reveal the intensity of crimes, committed against such men as children and youth.
we should rather focus on bringing aafia siddiqui back.
The root cause of all the problems we face is education. And we have that problem thanks to poverty. And we suffer from poverty thanks to the PML-N and PPP who managed to sink this country. And ofc, lack of education, and poverty played a huge part in securing these political parties future...
Why cant we stop copying India??
@AverageMoe: Please do not blame every thing to east of the border.first look inside and find the cause of this incidence. I am no fan of India but please try to be realistic.
Whats happening in this country ? BTW this is just a start ... just wait and see whats in store for this nation !!!
I think we need to tighten border security, I believe that the perpetrator may be from east of the wagah border.
these are congested mind people living in very congested area. they are pshyco man. they need special treatment.
It would be injustice if the rapists would not be pardoned in the name of Allah by the victim's parents, as in the case of Shahzeb.
"Two of the suspects are reported to be brothers."
what if the parents decide to pardon them "in the name of God"? would all 5 be let go? the laws need to be clearer if we are to punish the guilty...
@Libra: don't live in denial........The condition of women in South asia was always bad........but earlier everything was hidden in name of honour......But nowadays there is media activism on the subject......good work media....
@Libra....the cause is not cable tv.....it is due to lack of punishment and bribe
@ Libra..oh please dont blame Indian channels for this..as a muslim we are not supposed to do such things anyway..where is the self control? where is dignity? where is shame? blaming is always easy, accept our society has faults..
welcome to the land of the pure and home of the brave. These people should be tortured to death. oh wait lets wait for the human rights groups to come up with their faggoty recommendations.
This is sick and criminal. This madness has to stop! The rapist should be tried and given death sentence
One of the cause of this growing menace is Cable TV. Indian and foreign programs viewed on TV channels create libido causing such incidents.
Media started reporting these incidents, today they are more vigilent due to yesterday's event. We all know its a daily activity on every city otherwise.
@aqib We have all been living in Jahiliyat since time immemorial. Its the South Asian way.
Oh God, No not again.
We are returning to the times of Jahilliyah..
