Hail of bullets: Nearly three dozen militants attack police check post
Two watchmen killed, one injured in separate assaults.
SHABQADAR:
A man was killed and another severely injured when nearly three dozen militants attacked a check post in Shabqadar, Charsadda early Thursday morning.
Around 35 unidentified militants surrounded Sro check post and fired rockets at the building before opening fire at police officials present there, said police official Gul Shaid Khan. He added officials on duty called for reinforcements after which a heavy contingent of police personnel rushed to the spot.
The militants retreated after an intense firefight which lasted for more than 20 minutes, but opened fire at a petrol pump on the way, killing watchman Arif Gul and injuring Umer Farooq. The militants also managed to take the guard’s AK-47 rifles.
Moreover, Shaid said the militants blew up Government Boys Primary School, Musa Qilla by planting multiple bombs near the building. He maintained the perpetrators escaped towards the mountainous region following the attack, adding police have launched a search operation but no suspects have been arrested yet.

A watchman at the Girls Primary School, Babi Khel in Ghallanai subdivision of Mohmand Agency was killed by unidentified militants who planted four kilogrammes of explosives inside the building.
Fortunately, the device did not explode immediately and was defused after political administration officials and Frontier Corps personnel arrived at the site in the morning.
Political administration official Shamsul Islam said the watchman was shot dead around 50 yards from the school premises. He added seven suspects were arrested under the Frontier Crimes Regulation in the wake of the attack.
