Arif Hasan sent legal notice by SC advocate

Government-backed POA demands apology for ‘twisting facts’.

KARACHI: The government-backed Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has sent a legal notice to Lt Gen (retd) Arif Hasan through Afzal Javaid, who is an advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

In the notice, which was sent on the request of secretary Khwaja Farooq Saeed, Hasan has been asked to tender an apology within 48 hours for misinterpreting and twisting facts regarding the repossession of the Olympic House in Lahore. According to them, the procedure was a peaceful transfer to a newly elected body where no untoward incident happened.

Hasan has also been notified for misinforming the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Council of Asia about the actual state of affairs of sports and POA in Pakistan.

“You are advised in your own interest to tender an unconditional apology before media within 48 hours of the receipt of this letter,’ read the legal notice.
