Fresh meat: PC-1 for capital’s slaughterhouse ready

Rs10 million has already been allocated for the project, says project director.

A Rs26.52  million PC-1 for the construction of slaughterhouse in Sector H-9 has been prepared, according to the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) project director.


On Wednesday, a meeting was held in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) complex to review progress on the slaughterhouse being constructed by the CDA in Sector H-9/3, where 20 acres have been allocated for the facility. The meeting, chaired by Islamabad Chief Commissioner Jawad Paul, was attended by CDA and ICT officials.

The project director said that Rs10 million has already been allocated for the project and the board will give final approval to the PC-1 next month. At the moment, the Environmental Protection Agency is conducting an environment impact assessment study of the project, which will be completed within 42 days, after which an NOC would be issued to the CDA, he added.

During the meeting, Meat Welfare Association President Khursheed Ahmed Qureshi requested the officials to complete the project at the earliest. He said that after the construction of the slaughterhouse, quality meat would be provided the butchers.

Chief Commissioner Jawad Paul said he would ask the CDA chairman to expedite the project because of its importance.
