CNN-IBN reported that Wolves, who had became the second Pakistan outfit to qualify for the prestigious tournament, will not be granted Indian visa due to security concerns in the wake of the political tension between the two governments.
The Faisalabad outfit, led by Pakistan Test and One-Day International captain Misbahul Haq, are scheduled to start the four-team qualifying stage of the event from September 17.
However, the report stated that the qualifying stage after the visa refusal will be a three-side affair.
But former Test cricketer and manager of Wolves, Haroon Rasheed, said the team was continuing preparations.
“Our preparations are still underway,” Rasheed told The Express Tribune. “We haven’t been officially conveyed anything about the visa.
“All we know at this stage is tomorrow [September 12] will be our last training session while our departure is scheduled on September 14.
“We are in touch with the event’s committee and even provided reports of our players to tournament’s medical panel.”
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was also unaware of the team’s fate for the Champions League Twenty20, till filing of this report.

@vijay your comment is very immature.
Now what happened to "Aman Ki Asha"?
@vijay: Inspite of all the these visa refusal still Pakistani players want to come ??. Have some shame . That will be the day! . The Comments made by our Pakistani Brothers and Sisters SAYS IT ALL!! . Cheers
I think to sort this issue out, Indian govt should ask PCB to sign a contract guaranteeing the return all the pakistani players and their support staff once the championship is over.
It will put govt at ease and then they can issue the visa.
@K. Vairamuthu: You guys are talking as if a million dollars or more are sitting in your accounts LOL ... You keep your money and have some fun, don't waste your time here with all of the losers and shameless on our side of the border. Make money, get a million or two from the BCCIs coffers for furthering its cause, be a bit more arrogant, be bigots ... be productive ... LOL ... Salaam-Alaikum.
have we considered the fact that PCB has no control or anything to do with what pak army does at the LOC, even the pak govt has no control or anything to do with what pak army does at the LOC. so aren't the innocent being punished here. i am saying that we should make well considered decisions, focus on the real issues, the fight is with pak army, what have PCB done, why alienate someone who through their skills make your hearts sing with joy. remember art has no borders.
What a joke this tournament is. Half of the IPL teams, even those involved in spot fixing, qualify automatically and the champions from other countries and denied plainly, or asked for qualifiers. ICC being subservient to BCCI, has brought the 'gentlemen's game, cricket to its all time nadir by letting it involve in commercialization and dirty politics.
Refusal of visa by the Government of India to the Faisalabad Wolves cricket team, if true, is heartily welcomed. Indeed I urge GOI to cease issuing all visa's to citizens of Pakistan, save to religious pilgrims and that exception only so as to enable my countrywomen and countrymen of the Sikh religion to visit Guru Gobind Singhji's birth place at Nankana Sahib.
@Adhitya: PIA has stopped flying directly from Karachi to New Delhi. The flights from Lahore to New Delhi are still active. People wishing to travel from Karachi follow the flight path KHI>LHE>DEL
@Sajid Iqbal: I hope you do understand difference between invitation and VISA.
Based upon the CNN-IBN it seems that Indian Board is unable to Guarantee security to visiting teams. I wonder if this case is for all or Pakistani players are just treated a little "Differently".
Anyways if the India is not willing to welcome Pakistani players into their country than its a mutual loss. For Pakistani players coz they are left out of an international tournament and for the Indians coz politics apart no one can deny the Natural and Raw talent which is put up for display by the teams from Pakistan on a cricket field.
@vijay: It was your country's cricket board that invited Faisalabad team. And now backing off on security ground. Have some shame.
Many teams showing interest to participate in this CLT20 is because the teams will be paid $250,000 for participation alone and if a particular team wins the tournament, they will get nearly $2 million in prize money. Money matters!!
I am not sure why Wolves are even considering participation in a dodgy tournament such as this. One doesn't need a lot of money to live and enjoy life, infact its a lot of money which ruins everything. Like this carnival cricket is affecting Test cricket. I am hoping the visa doesn't come through so our players can spend their energies on something healthy and productive.
With PIA refusing to fly direct flights to India. They don't have direct ride to India anyway. Why take the trouble?
